We are seeking enthusiastic, audio-loving volunteers in London, who want to build their professional network by helping out at Radio Academy Events.

We're hoping to build a pool of volunteers, who we can call on to help out at live events, including our monthly Last Mondays events, and The Radio Academy Festival this September.

We'd like to hear from people who are up for helping out with all elements of in-person events - stewarding, supporting speakers and producers, operating AV/PA equipment, fetching, carrying and setting up, photography and more.

We will cover your local London travel (eg. tube/bus journeys), and where necessary will cover meals. If you aren't already a RA Member, we will give you a free affiliate membership as well.

Event Volunteers

  • Help events run smoothly, by supporting the production team in all areas of logistics
  • Event support may include: stewarding, welcoming delegates, responding to delegate queries, helping with room setup, acting as a runner, and other reasonable tasks
  • We are also interested in people who have technical skills with AV equipment, PA equipment, photography, and other relevant event production skills
  • This is an entry-level voluntary role, and would suit people with an interest in starting out in the audio/radio sector, demonstrating their skills and making new connections
  • Travel expenses will be paid, and meals will be provided.
  • You will also get a year's free Affiliate Membership of The Radio Academy
  • If you are interested, please email your CV and a brief covering letter to info@radioacademy.org marking your subject "Event Volunteer - Your Name"

All volunteers should:

  • Be over 18 (or over 16 with parental consent) and have the right to volunteer in the UK
  • Have an interest in radio broadcasting and/or audio production
  • Have a positive, can-do attitude, and be flexible to applying themselves as needed
  • Be enthusiastic about learning new things, and making connections in the industry
  • While our focus is on building a pool of London volunteers, if you are based elsewhere we are happy to forward your interest to your local branch organiser.

Our approach to volunteering:

The Radio Academy is a charity, and as such welcomes offers of voluntary support. We do not ask freelancers to give us their regular services free of charge, though we welcome freely-given donations of time. We acknowledge voluntary support with access to our output through membership or tickets to events. We cover travel expenses and meals as necessary.
