Foot In The Door
A day of training & connections

Our next event will be held in Glasgow on Wednesday 28th February 2024. Stay tuned for more information about our speakers and industry guests!

Listen back to the top tips and highlights from our previous Foot In The Door, Leeds last November 2023.  Radio Academy Podcast guest presenters Florrie Ward and Kiera Ford from Leeds Student Radio chatted to experts and guests on the day to find out what it takes to succeed in the ever-evolving world of audio.

Foot In the Door is a one-day event for people at entry and early career level in audio, to build skills development and open access to people and expertise, through training workshops and a facilitated speed-networking session.

Our upcoming event in Glasgow on 28th February 2024 is generously supported by The Radio Academy’s partners: All In Media/Xperi, Arqiva, BBC Sounds, Broadcast Bionics, MusicMaster/OnAir, PPL, PRS and RCS.

The three-hour programme of training workshops and talks with national, regional and local audio industry leaders and practitioners will start shortly after midday, covering sessions on programme production, podcasting, social media, brand development, music radio, news and speech audio, imaging, and technology. Participants can choose from multiple session topics and will have plenty of time throughout the day to chat to others and share newly gained knowledge.

One of the events highlights in the past has been the 90 minute facilitated speed-networking session, where delegates meet a cross section of audio professionals to learn about opportunities and career paths available in different areas of audio. Each delegate gets the chance to talk to every expert, gaining tips and practical steps to get a foot in the door into the industry. We have had some wonderful feedback on this part of the day at previous locations, and this session returns as we bring Foot In The Door to Glasgow!

The event closes with an informal social event with our Scotland Branch, where Radio Academy Members were invited to join in and make connections over a drink.
